3 months ago today I made a big change in my life that was a little scary.
I had a career as a Licensing Specialist working to license foster homes, which I had moved up the corporate ladder to get, and I absolutely loved doing. I had done this specific job for almost 3 years. I thought I would retire from doing this job in the next 10-15 years.
Well-life had other plans for me. My husband starting working for his family’s business a year ago (a health and wellness company), which was also a huge change for him. He had been a contractor building custom homes when his family approached him about taking the position as the President and CFO, which he did. Now, a year later, his family approached me about coming over to their family business. I loved my job, loved the benefits, loved the people I worked with, and loved the sense of security. I went back and forth with this offer for many days, writing down the pros and cons, and worrying about losing “my spot” in the position I worked so hard to achieve.
There were many factors that went into my decision. The family business is worldwide, so that includes many trips that my husband would be going on without me, if I stayed at my current job (I only had so much time off). I would be getting a raise so to speak, but we would also have to get private insurance if I wasn’t in that corporate position anymore. My husband and I would be working together daily, which could be a blessing or a curse! LOL This new position would be more flexible, allowing us to travel, move if needed, etc… while still working.
The decision was finally made and I gave my resignation notice to my job as a Licensing Specialist, and started my new job as the VP of Elite Services and Recognition. Last month my husband and I traveled to San Jose, Costa Rica for an event with our company, and next month we will be going to Orlando for another event. Even though it’s been a big change, with a lot of life adjustments, I’m glad I can be with my husband.
I see this as another way of LEVELING UP!
