A year ago this month, my youngest son (who will be 21 next month) joined the US Army. It was a big step for him, and a big step for me as a mom, to let go of my baby boy and let him become a man! We both have made many changes during these last 2 years.
I decided while he was going through boot camp (also known as basic training) that I would do my own version of boot camp to show support to him.
I did many different types of exercises, but then I also realized that it wasn’t just my physical body that I needed to work on…it was also important to work on my emotional and mental well-being.
There were many days that he wanted to give up and come home, but he persevered and made it to graduating from Airborne as a paratrooper.
There are many days I want to give up too, throw in the towel, and say, “I’m done!”. Then I think to myself…I can do hard things! So I keep going.
